I'll Take "Social Justice" for $1000, Alex

The Answer is: Because keeping violent offenders in jail is unfair, or so say the SJWs. The Question: Why wasn't William Shea McKay in jail?

Or as the LA Times puts it... Deputy's killer could have been behind bars: Why he wasn't.

You can apparently include Judge Cara Hutson in the ranks of those SJWs who believe violent criminals should be left to roam free. She was the judge who let a three-strikes felon out on bail. He killed Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Isaiah Cordero, and he then died in a shootout with police while out on bail.

“In my 30 years or so as a defense attorney and prosecutor,” [Former L.A. County prosecutor Dmitry] Gorin said, “I have never heard of a third-strike felon awaiting sentencing getting out on bail and then being arrested while out on bail and being released again.”

But he was released, and then arrested, and then released. And then he died, but he killed a cop in the process.

Cordero's grieving mother has called for Cara Hutson's resignation. If she doesn't resign, there is not a thing that can be done to her. I don't know if judges in California are elected or appointed, but I doubt anything will happen to her. I doubt an SJW will resign, because keeping violent offenders in jail is unfair.

In fact, I doubt the judge will lose a wink of sleep. I understand that they get things wrong; everyone makes mistakes. This was clear to see coming from a mile away.

McKay, 44, had a long criminal history and a pattern of fleeing from police that led to violent confrontations, court records show. His first strike came in 1999, when he pleaded guilty to assault with a firearm and spent three years in prison. The second came in 2005, when he and an accomplice attacked a sleeping couple in their apartment.

There really is a reason that California wrote its Three Strikes law. Maybe it has been applied in too many cases where it wasn't called for. It was called for in this case.
