The FBI versus Congressional Oversight

The more we find out about the shady dealings in the FBI the more I think it needs to be eliminated, and heads need to roll at the DOJ. DOJ snooped on House Intelligence Committee investigators during Russia probe, subpoenas show | Just The News

In an extraordinary intrusion on congressional oversight, the Justice Department used grand jury subpoenas to secretly obtain the personal email and phone data of at least two top House Intelligence Committee investigators back in November 2017 just as they and their boss, then-Chairman Devin Nunes, were assembling bombshell evidence of FBI abuses in the Russia collusion probe, Just the News has learned.

The subpoenas, obtained by Just the News, show the DOJ demanded that Google turn over personal email and phone data from the two senior staffers on Nov. 20, 2017 and that responsive materials were to be returned to DOJ by Dec. 5, 2017.

This was while the committee in question was investigating Russia, Russia, Russia and how the whole thing was fabricated by the FBI, the Hillary Clinton Campaign, 50 or so "intelligence operatives" (and their assurance in the media), and a cast of 1000s.

The other House Intelligence staffer whose records were subpoenaed by DOJ confirmed to Just the News he was notified last week by Google. He said he had worked extensively on investigating the FBI's Russia collusion conduct, including drafting the committee's report criticizing the FBI, reviewing sensitive documents and fighting with DOJ to gain access to the records.

So they spied on a Presidential campaign, worked with another campaign to smear a candidate - one they didn't like poltically - and then they seem to have been targeting the folks in Congress and their staff who were trying to figure out what the hell was going on. "The only reasonable question to ask after all of that is, what the F- is going on?"

There are a lot more details including quotes from various people involved in various parts of this mess, and a quote from one law professor.

Hat tip to The Other McCain, who asks the question Why Was the Department of Justice Spying on Republican Congressional Staff?

And they told me “The Deep State” was a myth . . .

The short answer to his question is, they support the Democrats, and they don't care about the Rule of Law.

I compare the DOJ, and in particular FBI, to the Stasi, or Das Ministerium für Staatsicherheit (The Ministry for State Security) from the old East Germany, because they were the "law enforcement" branch of the Communist Party, and the DOJ/FBI has morphed into the law enforcement (or secret police) branch of the Democratic Party.
