The incident unfolded around 6 a.m. [on December 5th] in the city’s west side when a vehicle with "three males inside" approached the victim, who was inside his own vehicle, Chicago Police told Fox News Digital in a statement.
"One of the individuals got out of the vehicle, pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded his belongings," police said.
Things didn't work out they way they expected.
The driver of the suspects' vehicle was shot in the head. The second guy was shot in the shoulder. The third guy suffered a broken leg when the car crashed a short distance from the attempted robbery.
Police added that all the suspects were unidentified teens between the ages of 15 to 18, while the victim targeted in the alleged robbery attempt was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing. While they're at it, they should investigate how to categorize an 18-year-old as a legal adult.

Wicker Park is one of the numerous neighborhoods in Chicago. It is not one of the official 77 neighborhoods, but is officially part of West Town. It is northwest of The Loop. In terms of this story Austin is not a city in Texas, but one of the 77 neighborhoods in Chicago. It is in the extreme west of Chicago due west of The Loop. It makes sense to Chicagoians.
There were 2 sets of robbers working in Wicker Park, one of which eventually rolled up on our concealed-carry license holder. That incident took place in Austin.
The driver, who was shot in the head, was in surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital. He was in “bad” condition, an officer at the shooting scene said. According to police, the person with a broken leg is in fair condition, while the person shot in the shoulder is in critical condition.
Even after the concealed carry holder neutralized one carload of suspected robbers, the other carload continued to rob people, according to a source.
Similar robberies had left 40 victims in Chicago between Friday and Monday.
