Concealed Carry Seems to be Catching on in Chicago

While the CPD holds fire, armed citizens are increasingly letting the lead fly towards those engaged in making poor life choices.

The stories are interesting, and I've covered a lot of them, but then there is an indictment of "professional journalism" in Chicago (and elsewhere).

The case itself isn’t very noteworthy, however what is more interesting, to us anyway, is CWB was the only outlet to pick up on the story (via police scanner traffic and then subsequent follow-ups, like reporters are supposed to do) as the CPD made no mention of the incident. In Chicago, and likely elsewhere, no mention means no details equals no story. 

Stat: We pick up on at least one shooting a week that goes unreported. Sometimes, it is a couple-two-tree a day. Even then, we’re still likely missing some which means the deadwood legacies and over-the-air teleprompter readers are missing even more.

Why would the news media ignore shootings? Well there are so damn many in Chicago. As I type this HeyJackass! lists a total of 694 homicides in the city. That includes the 9 fatalities that resulted from justifiable self-defense. That number will surely go up before you read this.

If you can support HeyJackass! or CWB Chicago that would be great. They are doing good work. Or find similar organizations in your hometown. Real journalism. (HeyJackass! is the only place for crime stats on Chicago, because Chicago PD cooks the books. And CWB Chicago is one of 2 organizations doing real journalism in the city that I know of. The other being Chicago Journal. And they are notable in that they are not NBC/ABC/CBS/MSwhatever/EIEIO media organizations.
