I usually go on, at length, about how most pop music from the 1970s was trash. Trash in a completely different way than pop music today is trash, but still it was trash.
That stems from the one constant in the universe: the music industry is run by people with tiny minds, and little or no appreciation of music. They can only repeat what they heard 10 minutes ago.
While today's song isn't the greatest song ever, it is definitely not trash. The singing and the harmonies are good. They lyrics are good. Overall the song is quite good.
And for reasons that I have not been able to find a definitive reason, it charted at number 16 in 2022, even though it was released in 1978. I assume that this is because of its us in the TV series Ozark, though there are two other shows it was used in as well this year.
This song is "Right Down the Line" by Gerry Rafferty from the 1978 album City to City. It was the second single released from that album, and it reached number 12 on the Billboard "Hot 100" chart. It hit number one on the "Adult Contemporary" chart.
An awesome song!
