From The Other McCain: Heckuva Job, Nancy Pelosi: Manager of the Decline of the Democratic Party

It was perhaps predictable, once it became clear that Republicans had won a majority in the House of Representatives, that Nancy Pelosi would resign from the Democratic leadership in the House. She’s 82 years old, after all, but if Democrats had managed to keep their majority, she probably wouldn’t have turned over the Speaker’s gavel.

Pelosi has been in Congress since 1987, when she one a special election/runoff after the death of Sala Burton from cancer.

To remind you of 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in Predator and Mel Gibson and Danny Glover brought us Lethal Weapon, Peter Weller starred in RoboCop, The Lost Boys terrorized Santa Carla, and Robin Williams starred in Good Morning, Vietnam. (If you haven't seen all of those movies, you should correct that.)

My point is, that was a long time ago. Just look at the movie posters for Predator and Leathal Weapon to see how much younger Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mel Gibsoin were. Well, we were all a lot younger in 1987.
