I think I will close my account, but then I haven't been using it in a while anyway. New PayPal Policy Lets Company Pull $2,500 From Users’ Accounts If They Promote ‘Misinformation’
The financial services company, which has repeatedly deplatformed organizations and individual commentators for their political views, will expand its “existing list of prohibited activities” on November 3. Among the changes are prohibitions on “the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials” that “promote misinformation” or “present a risk to user safety or wellbeing.” Users are also barred from “the promotion of hate, violence, racial or other forms of intolerance that is discriminatory.”
Object to the mutilation of children? Object to the presence of biological males in women's sports? Object to anything the Woke Scolds at PayPal deem important? Pay up!
Deliberations will be made at the “sole discretion” of PayPal and may subject the user to “damages” — including the removal of $2,500 “debited directly from your PayPal account.” The company’s user agreement contains a provision in which account holders acknowledge that the figure is “presently a reasonable minimum estimate of PayPal’s actual damages” due to the administrative cost of tracking violations and damage to the company’s reputation.
And in case you have been living under a rock...
Platforms such as Amazon, Twitter, and Facebook have formerly censored conservatives and others who subscribe to heterodox positions on controversial social issues, including transgenderism and homosexuality. GoFundMe seized millions in funds raised for trucker protests in Canada earlier this year, while Google recently began suppressing search results for crisis pregnancy centers.
Conform. Obey. Use PayPal.
Oh, look at that. They got caught out, and were embarrassed by all of the bad publicity and are backtracking. PayPal Pulls Back, Says It Won’t Fine Customers $2,500 for ‘Misinformation’ after Backlash.
PayPal has backtracked on a published policy that would have fined users $2,500 for spreading “misinformation,” claiming the update had gone out “in error.”
“An AUP notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy. Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused,” a spokesperson told National Review in a written statement.
Social media has said, "Yeah, right" in unison. At least the conservative side of social media. They were sorry that so many people noticed the change in the user agreement. They were sorry that they couldn't just start confiscating loads of money from people, and then say, "Well that is what you agreed to." And between the time I started writing this and the time it was published, I did cancel my account. They may not do this today, but they certainly want to.
Just look at what PayPal did to Eric July. They collected 1.2 million dollars on behalf of Eric July and his ISOM #1 comic book, and then they didn't want to release it. Why? They apparently had several reasons over the course of the insanity. And like all the goal-post moves he encountered on social media, PayPal kept moving the goal posts as well. I believe he did eventaully get his money, and I am sure that there were lawyers involved. Could it be that PayPal couldn't stand the idea that a Black Conservative could be a successful businessman? Could it be that they hate all conservatives? Could it be that they didn't like the fact that Eric July is anti-woke? It could be all of the above, or there may be other reasons, but in any event, I'm out. They can backtrack and appologize all they want at this point. I won't be using PayPal. Ever.
And neither should you.
Surprise, surprise, surprise, if Paypal didn't just backtrack and apologize. I saw it on another sight, but it seems as if it is legit. At this point, the damage is done. You can only screw people so many times, before they say no more.
