Since people seem to object to anything that even seems like harsh vocals, let alone the full-on Death Metal Death Growl, today we have some Power Metal from a band I really like.
Battle Beast is a Finnish (the sing in English!) Power Metal band. Noora Louhimo sings in a clear style that should not offend anyone, and there are plenty of screaming guitars for a Monday afternoon.
Here's a link to the lyrics. They may be singing in English, without harsh vocals, but it is still Heavy Metal.
This is "Wings of Light" by Battle Beast from their 21 January 2022 album Circus of Doom.
It is the "official video" for the song, which I always find distracting. But that is what the band uploaded to YT. (The band, or their label.) Though I really like Noora Louhimo's hairstyle.
Love it. Sounds like a homage to Nightwish in the middle...

Not the best female fronted metal band, not even the best Finnish female fronted metal band, but still pretty good and far better than almost all of what passes for music from here in America.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I started listening to European Heavy Metal was because the bands play real instruments, the singers can sing without relying on AutoTune, they play live shows, the write real songs, etc. In other words, everything that American pop music is not.
Delete100% agree, all of these bands seem to be able to perform live and sound great, it is hard for me to appreciate "musicians" who can't actually play or sing. In the days of my youth it was a common practice for bands to have albums that sounded good because the actual musicians were some studio guys. This was true of a lot of 60s bands.
