“Nobody wants a thermonuclear Armageddon. Right?”

From The Other McCain... Policy Goal: Avoid World War III.

Avoiding nuclear war would be good. I'm not optimistic.

The post by Robert Stacy McCain is a take-down of an article at The Atlantic. The author, David French, is opposed to everything Far Right, even if he doesn't explain exactly what he is against. That is apparently the joy of being a Leftist in 2022; as long as you are opposed to "The Right" you don't have to explain anything. (Or why do you think they are still saying stuff like, "Bail reform will make us safer" while crime skyrockets?)

While I’m all in favor of sending the Ukrainians weapons — and cheer them on in their fight against Putin’s army — the risk of widening the conflict is paramount in my concern, because nobody wants a thermonuclear Armageddon. Right? Hello? “Give Peace a Chance”?

I still think it comes back to the issue that Americans - especially the self-congratulatory "elite" that couldn't see Putin REALLY did mean what he said about invading Ukraine - don't believe that Russia will actually use nuclear weapons. Even though they have ALWAYS said that they are prepared to fight a nuclear war. (Here is a link to my post on exactly that.)

Anyway, click thru to The Other McCain, and read the whole thing.
