It appears that self-defense is legal in Georgia, but then I thought it was. Georgia Man Remains Free After Grand Jury Declines To Indict Him For September Shooting.
One motorist shot another. The cops took the shooter in for questioning, but he was not arrested.
The Catoosa County Grand Jury convened this week, and after hearing the presentation by the District Attorney’s office, declined to indict the still unnamed man. Speaking on the case, District Attorney Chris Arnt said that he is not at liberty to share any details of the Grand Jury’s deliberation, but that they had determined that no criminal laws in the State of Georgia had been violated by the shooter.
September to February seems a long time to make that determination, but with Thanksgiving, and Christmas and New Years in there, on top of whatever COVID restrictions Georgia courts still have in place, maybe it isn't unreasonable.
Oh, and the DA went out of his way to assure everyone he doesn't take any of this lightly. Maybe he is up for reelection.
And whether or not the DA in question hates self-defense, it is a human-right.
