Some Stockton residents expressed resignation, others surprise and dismay over February's surge of homicides.
Stockton, California is (according to the Wiki anyway) the 11th largest city in California and the 58th largest in the USA. It is not a Big City.
The pace of homicides in the city is running 45 percent above last year with most of those happening in February.
The article has a lot of reactions from neighbors. Some are hunkering down. Some are shocked to discover that they do, in fact, live in The Real World™ and not some fantasy land where crime never happens.
There is strangely no quote from the cops about what they are doing to combat this. But then again it is California, and reporters are probably afraid to talk to cops.
