But then I suspected it was. DA rules homeowner was justified in shooting death of man asked to leave home
A disabled veteran asked an unruly guest to leave. He did. He came back and was allowed to retrieve his personal belongings, and then he left again. Then he came back to the home one more time.
Moments later, the homeowner told investigators that he heard Nunn screaming and said he refused to leave.
The homeowner said he believed Nunn was acting erratic and suspected that he was under the influence of drugs, so he got a shotgun, loaded it, and again told him to leave.
A scuffle ensued. And I would just like to ask, "What kind of jackass starts a fight with a disabled person?"
Because of the homeowner’s physical disabilities, Lee said the man believed that if the Nunn got control of the gun, he would be killed.
One shotgun blast at close range will pretty much ruin your day. And it turns out that the guy who got shot had a shotgun of his own leaning up against the outside of the house.
[District Attorney Ernie] Lee said the homeowner’s fear was reasonable and, “Mr. Nunn’s death, while tragic, was justified. No criminal charges are warranted against the homeowner based upon the law of self-defense in North Carolina.”
Self-defense is a human-right.
