Portland Has a Shortage of Cops - 911 Response Impacted

And of course Portland has seen a record number of homicides in 2021. Portland police tell residents 911 response times may be delayed due to staffing shortage, critical incidents | Fox News

Police were only responding to priority 1 and priority 2 calls, which are for incidents in which a life may be in immediate danger or with a potential for physical injury, as well as major property crimes.

Officers were not responding to other incidents, such as any crime in progress that doesn't pose an immediate danger to persons or property.

Otherwise you just fill out the paperwork and they ignore it without ever talking to you first.

Mayor Wheeler, who oversaw a $15 million cut to Portland PD's budget last year pushed for an additional $5 million this year. It isn't helping.

"Many Portlanders no longer feel safe in their city," Wheeler said at a news conference.

"Business owners have closed up shop for fear of doing business in high-risk areas. Commuters fear for their safety, whether taking public transport or going by foot. Parents are scared to let their children play outside."

No mention of blame. No discussion of soft-on-crime policies. Recidivism. Decriminalizing looting. Drugs. Homelessness. The general decay of civilization.

But they do recognize that it is serious. It is impacting tax revenue. How are they going to do progressive sh*t without tax revenue? Oh yeah, they will just raise taxes on everyone still in the city.
