In places that experience lots of violent crime, the cost is in blood and lives. Wicker Park club owner says police were called twice over unruly crowd but never showed, minutes later 5 people were shot - Chicago Sun-Times
Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse. So what would you do if you called for police, and no one came?
Just before 3 a.m. Oct. 10, the staff at The Point called the police and asked for squad cars to clear the block in front of the Wicker Park club.
When no officers responded, the staff called again at 3:34 a.m., according to phone records provided by the club. Then, they shut down the bar.
10 minutes after that, the shooting started. Someone died.
Police officials wouldn’t comment.
Calling 911 is a fine thing to do, but it might not be the cure for all situations that you hope it might be.
