A brand new building with more problems than the old building. $86M bus 'war room' empty, falling apart two years later
The "Grand Opening" was in 2019. It had leaky roofs from the start, the heat didn't work, and there were bugs infesting the bathrooms.
Dispatchers who are supposed to work there have refused to relocate from across the street, sources said.
It was supposed to open in 2017, but there were drainage and sprinkler problems.
To go along with the new building, there was supposed to be an upgrade to the radio-dispatch system.
Once slated to cost $283 million, the radio project cost has increased to $294 million as of November 2020.
Whatever problem you have, I promise you that more government is not the answer. Now true, they didn't build the building, a contractor did. Did they select the best contractor? Did they oversee the project? Did someone's brother-in-law, or 2nd cousin once removed get the contract? The article offers no explanation for the breakdown of the construction process or the quality issues.
