Act Like a Road-raging Thug...

You might just get treated that way. Fort Worth man who shot state trooper won’t face charges, says he feared for his life.

Oh, and self-defense is a legal-right in Texas. It might even be your right if the person threatening you is a Law Enforcement Officer, though I wouldn't count on it.

"Don't you dare pass me" was the first message, followed by a "break check." That was by a Law Enforcement Officer. So where exactly does the break-check show up in the patrolman's guide?

King and his wife, Myra, were driving back from Kroger and Chick-fil-A around 2 p.m., heading north on U.S. 287 in the middle of traffic on a rainy day. As King was about to switch lanes, the driver of a gray pickup truck in front of him shook his head back at King through the rearview mirror, King said.

When King switched back into that lane, he said, the truck brake-checked him. Thinking the situation was road rage, King picked up speed to get away from the truck.

When they got home they called 911 to report a road-rage incident and a bad-guy following them.

So a car chase ends up with the guy who was chasing you standing at your front door. What would you do? What would you assume? Remember, it isn't 1951, it is 2021.

King’s attorney, Robert Huseman, said in order to be charged for evading or assaulting a police officer, King would have had to have known the man was a law enforcement officer. The state trooper was in plainclothes, the truck was not marked and the trooper did not show any police identification, King said.

You are apparently just supposed to sense the LEO aurora eminiating from them by virtue of their authority. It was only AFTER he got shot (that aurora doesn't provide a bullet-proof-shield) that he called for uniformed officers and marked cars.

With the recent decision of a Denton County grand jury declining to charge him with a crime, the Kings are ready to move on with their lives.

This all could have been avoided from the start, if he hadn't been full of his authority.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (the department in question) has basically refused to answer any questions.
