The girlfriend told investigators the man had assaulted her before she pulled out a gun and shot him once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made. The incident will be refered to a grand jury.

I have a CCWSafe Ultimate Plan that covers both my wife and I. However, it specifically excludes use of deadly force against a family member. Here in Kommiecticut, that would mean the woman in the story would be on her own and most likely at least facing a stringent investigation and have to pay the legal fees. If it were reversed and the man did the shooting, he would be arrested, jailed, maybe out on bail while awaiting trial, lose his permit, and be red-flagged.
