There has been some discussion - by me and in the comments - about how a lot (most?) of the Rock & Roll music from the 1970s is drek. Here is a song that isn't drek from 1971, but it also isn't Rock.
Discogs calls this "Pop Rock," but a number of music critics, who I agree with, call it Folk Music. Mostly accoustic guitar and voice, with some very low-key percussion. Doesn't sound like Rock to me.
This song is "You've Got A Friend" by James Taylor from his 1971 album Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon. It was written by Carole King and included on her 1971 album Tapestry first.
