Do you think you have magical abilities to not get shot? Or are you trying to commit suicide? Video shows man shoot Chicago police officer from point-blank range; cops return fire - Chicago Sun-Times
Two officers then got out of their marked squad cars as Lua approached one of the cars in an alley behind the 1500 block of South Lawndale Avenue. One of the officers, who was wearing one of the four body-worn cameras that captured the incident, ordered him to stop and yelled, “Show me your hands!”
He drew a weapon and shot two cops. Both were taken to a hospital and released later that day.
The genius who pulled this stunt, Bruce Lua, was also shot. Oh, and he was "awaiting trial" for misdemeanor assault. He was taken to hospital. When he got out he was charged.
There is bodycam video at the link above taken from several vantage points. It is just a bit less than 90 seconds.
Lua was ordered held on $10 million bail for attempted murder, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon charges in connection with the exchange of gunfire with cops.
Lua was also ordered held on $100,000 bail for his pending misdemeanor assault case.
So my question remains. Was he trying to get himself killed? I'd say he's lucky he didn't die.

Here's a link to Dachief. Chicago Police Officers Shot- Dachief Breakdown. Dachief slows things down, because this all happened pretty fast. He also mentions that the guy who started all of this was a felon in posession of a firearm, so he was looking at a long time in prison even before he shot 2 cops.

I spent three years in the early '90's going through the Portland Oregon newspaper daily. Looking for police shooting stories. Over hundreds of shootings (including one person shot over 30 times at point blank eange) the average hit per shot ratio was 1 in 10.
