As he approached the vehicle which he thought was his rental car, Scales, the owner of the vehicle, began threatening Brewer. Brewer, however, walked away from the confrontation but Scales continued to follow him on foot for more than two blocks, according to the Public Defender's Office.
At one point, Brewer allegedly saw Scales reach for what looked like a shiny object in his waistband, and fearing for his safety, Brewer reached for his own gun and fatally shot Scales.
And he did have an 18-inch pipe.
Now this article didn't say, but my guess is that he was charged with a weapons violation because he was carrying a concealed weapon, and unless you are a Hollywood movie star you will not get a permit for that in California.
In the eastern counties of California it is relatively easy to get a CCW, and they are good through out the state. Don't try to get one in the counties surrounding SF Bay or the South Coast.
ReplyDeleteTHE PROCESS IS THE PUNISHMENT. Unless Mr. Brewer is VERY wealthy the entire incident has almost certainly bankrupted him....he probably has lost his job, house and if married his wife.
