Chicago Politicians Can't Count. Neither Can the Media

They can't admit that liberal policies don't work. Report claims officials could find only 2 times when people on bail for gun cases contributed to Chicago's violence. Please, allow us to help. | CWB Chicago

WBEZ, Chicago's NPR affiliate, is going on about how low bail (and soon no cash bail) is not impacting crime in the city.

Even The Chicago Tribune could find some examples...

Then, there is our own reporting. All totaled, CWBChicago reporters have identified 19 people who are accused of killing, trying to kill, or shooting someone in Chicago this year while on bond for other felonies. There are 27 victims involved in those alleged crimes. For 2020, CWB’s team identified 38 people who were charged with killing, trying to kill, or shooting someone while on bail for felonies. Those cases involve 43 victims.

Without consequences for crime, you get more crime. And it isn't just bail. Kim Foxx, the Illinois State's Attorney for Cook County, not-so-affectionately known as Crimesha, dropping cases and pleading things down to nothing also doesn't help. But that is a story for another day.

Click thru. CWB Chicago is perhaps the last real journalism in Chicago, willing to call out the lawyers and the politicians with real news.
