Another Police Chase? Why not.
When I am struggling with insomnia, they have a certain fascination. The insanity of thinking you can outrun the radio.
They provide the booking photo of this genius at the very end of the video, in case you are wondering what Florida Man actually looks like. They also provide a list of the charges from this episode.
As The Other McCain has noted, people don't run for no reason. This guy was going back to jail. He was driving on a suspended/revoked license. He threw a beer out the window at the start of the pursuit. He was on probation, and all of this was a violation, even before he started to run. Bad choices lead to bad outcomes.
This is the video for Intense High Speed Sheriff Pursuit Ends With PIT Maneuver in Marion County, Florida. It is 9 minutes and change.
Marion County is in the north-central portion of Florida. Far enough south of Gainsville (home to the Florida Gators) so that even on days there is a football game, you can usually find a hotel room in that part of the state. It is about 100 miles north of Tampa by car.
I think this qualifies as Peak Florida, at least for today.
The first cop needs to be re-trained on the pit maneuver. Only attempt #3 had a little follow through. The rest were just taps.
ReplyDeleteIf you watch enough police chases and other stuff like bodycam and dashcam video, you see just how bone headed some cops are.
ReplyDeleteThey will do a pit and spin the guy out, but not block him in front and back when he is stopped, allowing the bad guy to drive away.
They will stand in a circle and point their guns at the bad guy - and at each other - because muzzle discipline is hard.
