Could It Be That Self-defense Is Legal in California?

Not if the prosecutors have their way. Oakland man acquitted in murder trial over shooting when he was 18.

Jesus Lima, 21, testified during trial that he fired a shot after the victim, 20-year-old Deivi Zacarias-Lopez, and four others attacked him. Lima’s attorney argued to jurors that Lima had acted in self-defense, noting that he retreated 62 feet before bringing the gun from his waistband.

Prosecutors argued that Lima was the aggressor and had threatened a man in the other group before. Jurors deliberated for roughly two days before acquitting Lima of murder, manslaughter, and assault charges.

Prosecutors hate self-defense. Individual action? Individual responsibility? We can't allow that.

  1. The article is somewhat misleading. Show trials in the people's republics are not consistent with justice, reason, nor righteousness. They do showcase the world that promises everyone the equality to subsist on canned rat meat as they do in Cuba.
