They say they "felt threatened." Deputies fatally shoot 91-year-old homeowner while responding to report of attempted break-in
They say she pointed a shotgun at them. That they gave her commands.
Family members of the 91-year-old told FOX 11 that Francois was legally blind and deaf.
Cops will investigate cops, and decide that they did nothing wrong. Because they are scared of a little old lady.
I'm not saying they were not justified, but cops need a better system than to show up in response to any random 911 call and shoot anything that moves.
Doesn't matter if this murder was deliberate or unintended. There is never any meaningful consequences for these killings...never. Thus there is no incentive to do anything to stop them from happening. That is the reality that needs to change. If those in power won't make it personally painful for the hired muscle who make these mistakes then the only alternative is for the citizenry to do it.....in the middle of the night if necessary.
ReplyDeleteThe courts are the ones - in particular SCOTUS - that made them immune to almost everything.
DeleteThere are plenty of laws on the books, dating to just after the Civil War, that deal with cops doing things "under the color of authority" that got wiped out in the 1960s and 1970s.
