"Just Give Them What They Want"

The gun-hating Left insists that this will keep you safe. Not so much. Gunman kills Kenner gas station clerk 'on his knees' after handing over all the money: Police

Just after 2:00 a.m. Monday, a gunman walked behind the counter of a Kenner gas station, aimed his gun at the clerk who was on his knees and had handed over all the money in the cash register.

The suspect then took a step back and shot the clerk, identified as 30-year-old Abdel Ghader Sylla, a spokesperson with the Kenner Police Department said.

Violent criminals do not stop being violent criminals because of anything you are or are not doing.

"Just give them what they want" is a strategy for dealing with a violent encounter. I don't think it is a particularly good strategy. It is certainly not the guarantee that the gun-hating Left makes it out to be. And curiously, they never want to discus rape under this context.

Now, being armed in his own self-defense may not have saved the gas station clerk. That is also not a guarantee.

Still, I think that being armed is a better strategy than cooperation. If you are armed you can cooperate until it is clear that is not working, if you choose. If you are unarmed you have little choice.

  2. When I am asked why I am always armed, my response is "Dead witnesses can't testify. I don't want to rely on the good graces of a criminal to decide whether I live or die."
