But it probably has nothing to do with all the similar deals in the Mideast that the Trump administration worked on. Israel establishes diplomatic ties with Bhutan | News | DW | 12.12.2020
Israel has established diplomatic ties with the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Saturday.
The agreement did not appear to be related to Israel's recently established ties with Arab and Muslim countries in the Middle East and Africa.
Just a complete coincidence on the timing. Nothing the see here. Move along.
Quelle Coincidence!
ReplyDeleteTalking with someone who grew up in Palestine, his view was that most people didn’t care who was in charge because they recognized everyone was corrupt. They just want to improve their standard of living and avoid any major conflicts. I have heard this echoed from expats living elsewhere around the Middle East.
Before the UAE deal most politicians could keep up the pretense that working with the Israelis was a bad thing, but once they saw trade deals on the horizon they were afraid of being left out. I suspect the chain reaction has hit critical levels now. If things do keep improving there, I there may be more pressure on Iran to “chill out” than could be accomplished by any US sanctions.
