Broward County Was Known As Coward County After the School Shooting

Some things don't change. ‘Sheriff, hurry up please.’ Disabled man battles intruder as cops wait down the street.

Seventy-year-old Bill Norkunas, a childhood polio survivor, headed over to the light and flicked it on hoping to scare away whoever was there. Instead, the light was a beacon drawing a young man to his front door, a door made of glass.

For 15 minutes the young man tried to break through the door. Luckily it was hurricane glass, it was Florida after all, and even with a paver he was having trouble getting through the glass.

But the truly disturbing thing was that for most of that time Broward Coward County Sheriff's deputies were close by, but did not come to the 70-year-old's aid.

And as bewildering, and just as terrifying to him, is the knowledge that a squad of Broward sheriff’s deputies responded to his Tamarac neighborhood, but none came close to his home to stop the man. Instead, they waited down the street until he walked over to them and surrendered, witnesses told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

The result is a palpable sense of outrage toward the Sheriff’s Office with many in the neighborhood questioning why deputies would leave a terrified, disabled man to fend for himself for as long as they did.

Why? Well, Cowardice springs to mind.

For the Sheriff's Department, they aren't saying anything. There is an investigation underway. Cops investigating cops. What could go wrong?

If your only plan, when presented with a violent criminal is to call 911, you might want to think that thru. Calling 911 is a fine thing to do, but it won't always mean that things turn out the way you hope they will. In fact you could find yourself waiting for the rest of your life.

  1. That's just pathetic. The county needs to basically fire its entire sheriff's department and start over, like Camden, NJ did.

  2. Leftard policies come home to roast on the elderly, weak, helpless while our elites use their private security and gated communities to safeguard themselves. You had better be armed and be willing to use your weapons.
