Is legal self-defense becoming more common in the Blue Cities, or am I just noticing it more? Police: Man shot dead after forcing his way into Northeast Philly home
How should the law-abiding citizens of Philadelphia react to someone breaking into their homes at about one o'clock in the morning? This incident happened at ten minutes past one.
Investigators believe the shooting happened after the victim forced his way into the home and a struggle ensued with someone inside the property, during which, the man was shot.
Officials said the man -- who police did not immediately provide additional identifying information on -- was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced at about 1:39 a.m.
The cops haven't said that this is self-defense, but then those determinations are made by the District Attorney's office, and I have no understanding of where the current Philadelphia DA stands on the issue of self-defense. The description they provided makes this incident sound like justified self-defense to me, but I'm no lawyer.
Self-defense is a human right, and it just might be your legal right.

Why do they always call the deceased the "victim" in these news articles. They should be called the alleged burglar.................................................
ReplyDeleteSometimes they are quoting police, sometimes they are on their own there. And they are getting better about it, though Philadelphia is a deep blue city with solidly anti-gun media.
DeleteI used to make a point of telling the reporters/editors exactly that... you can find their contact info on the sites easy enough. Maybe I will get back to that.
Journalists in more reasonable places, like Florida, and Texas, and even some middle of the road states like Ohio, tend to do a better job, though even there I see this from time to time.

DeleteWith Philadelphia's George Soros-sponsored, criminal-loving, police-hating District Attorney Larry Krasner, it is entirely possible that the homeowner will be charged for illegal possession of a firearm, manslaughter, or even third degree murder.
