He apparently thought that past performance was a guarantee of present success. Store manager shoots and kills teen robber at gas station, authorities say

This gas station had been robbed a month ago. That person fit this teen's description.

A gas station clerk shot and killed a teenager who was attempting to rob the store early Saturday morning, according to police.

After getting shot, he ran from the crime scene.

The 17-year-old was found wearing a hoodie, mask and orange gloves. He also had a 9mm Taurus pistol next to his body, according to police.

Prichard, Alabama is about 5 miles northwest of downtown Mobile.

Did he rob the store last month? Was he inspired by the robber from last month? We will never know.

Levels of Editorial Oversight Failed

I see The Chicago Sun-Times and The Chicago Tribune are still adversarial. Chicago Sun-Times Sunday insert contains 10 fake books in list

A special section inserted into the Sunday Chicago Sun-Times featured page upon page of fun summer activities, including a list of 15 books to bring along while lounging by the pool or relaxing in a favorite reading spot.

The only problem: The authors are real, but most of the books don’t exist. Artificial intelligence, employed by a Chicago freelance writer, simply made them up.

The Sun-Times is "looking into" how this could have happened, but there is no mystery. Whoever put the list together hired a recent college grad, and that recent college grad turned to AI, and no one bothered to check.

“We are looking into how this made it into print as we speak,” the Sun-Times said. “This is licensed content that was not created by, or approved by, the Sun-Times newsroom, but it is unacceptable for any content we provide to our readers to be inaccurate. We value our readers’ trust in our reporting and take this very seriously.”

As Pixy Misa has been saying for some time, AI is a pathological liar in a box.

The internet was fun while it lasted, but it will soon be awash in AI generated lies. It is already less useful that it was 10 years ago.

Attitude Counts in Self-Defense

And when the government forbids you the use of effective tools, you must improvise. Ontario family fought off home invaders using fire extinguisher and baseball bats

The owners of an Ontario home targeted twice by thieves in less than a month are speaking out, describing how they used baseball bats and a fire extinguisher to repel the second home invasion, which police believe targeted their vehicle.

In Texas, or Florida, this would be a very different story. In Canada the law abiding are disarmed. It is for their own protection, of course. That protection didn't stop them from being victimized, of course.

Three weeks earlier, the homeowners said there had been another break-in at their home, this time through a bedroom window. In that instance, the suspects carried hammers, according to the homeowners, who said they fought them off with a coat rack.

Clearly Canada should enact common sense hammer control. Or something.

Still, attitude carries the day.

Self-defense is a human right, but Canada doesn't see it that way. You must rely on the state, even for the things the state cannot provide.

MV Celebrity Edge: A Maritime Mishap

Though it was more in the nature of a near miss, than a catastrophe.

Some time ago, when one of the maritime disasters was in the news, someone asked how often stuff goes wrong around boats. The answer is, "All the time." So much so, that unless a mishap impacts global trade, like the ship that was blocking the Suez Canal a few years back, or the ship that knocked down a bridge in Baltimore, you don't hear about it.

This story may make an impact on the news for a couple of reasons:

  1. It involved cruise ships.
  2. There is video.

I don't know if this has been plastered all over the news or not. I suspect not, just based on everything else going on, but I am fairly well insulated from the general 24 hour news insanity.

From Cruise Hive: Celebrity Edge Breaks Loose in Alaska Port Due to Sudden Wind Squall. This could have been a collision between 2 cruise ships, but the other ship, that was in danger from this, managed to maneuver out of the way.

On the afternoon of June 16, 2025, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Edge broke free from her mooring lines – likely as a result of inclement weather. Video taken by witnesses shows heavy rain and wind.

MV Celebrity Edge is the lead ship in the Edge Class at Celebrity Cruise Lines. It has a length overall of 306 meters, a beam of 39 meters, a draft of 8.4 meters, and 15 decks. There are 4 Wärtsilä marine engines installed powering 2 azimuth thruster pods, and 4 side thrusters. It was laid down in 2016 and launched in 2018, for a cost of $1 billion.

If you only want to see the video showing the lines parting, this article at The Weather Channel has a short 30 second video. All it really shows are the lines parting and the ship away from the dock. (The video will autoplay the next story in line, so that is something to be aware of.)

This is Sal Mercagliano's video from What's Going on With Shipping? MV Celebrity Edge Breaks Loose from Its Moorings in the Port of Juneau, Alaska | June 16, 2025. The video is 20 minutes, but is comprehensive. Sal Mercagliano makes use of vessel tracking to show the other ships in the area, and how one of them managed to get out of the way, avoiding a collision.

Even Reporters Admit EVs Don't Beat Internal Combustion

Electric vehicles don't work for long distance driving. The infrastructure does not match that built for internal combustion engines (ICE). And then there is cost. After Driving 2,500 Kilometers in Electric Car, they Reached an Irrefutable Conclusion: “Diesel” Is Still King on the Road

A group of journalists started at the Tesla factory in Berlin, and drove 2 vehicles from there to Madrid.

When a group of Spanish journalists embarked on a 2,500-kilometer journey across Europe, their mission seemed clear: test the viability of electric cars on long-distance trips. But after their trek from Berlin to Madrid, the team returned with an unexpected conclusion. The future of electric cars, it seems, is not quite ready to dethrone traditional vehicles for those in search of a cost-effective and practical option on the road.

The cost of recharging was higher than what a comparable vehicle would have paid for either gas or diesel.

Over the course of 2,500 kilometers, recharging the electric vehicles cost them €53.62 more than if they had fueled a comparable diesel car.

This cost discrepancy grew even more when comparing the electric vehicles to a gasoline car, with the electric vehicles’ total fuel cost exceeding the gasoline vehicle’s by €136.61.

The charging infrastructure is also lacking. They were driving Tesla vehicles, and when they could find a Tesla supercharger, things were good. They couldn't always find a Tesla charger however.

Superchargers, known for their speed, are an expensive option. The journalists realized that opting for slower charging stations could reduce the overall cost of the trip, but it would also mean adding more time to the journey.

So will that extra time equate to a motel stay?

The article still parrots the idea that electric vehicles are better for the environment. Pay no attention to the environmental devastation caused by lithium mining is South America, or nickle mining if Indonesia, or child labor mining cobalt in Africa. The fact is that EVs don't work for everyone.

The hat tip goes to Net Zero Quickie: Auto industry in "FULL PANIC MODE" | MGUY Australia. The video is less than 4 minutes.

Churches Need to Address Security

This isn't going to get better. Churches increase security training after CrossPointe shooting incident

Days before a gunman showed up at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, members of that church and its volunteer security team were learning how to protect their house of worship.

"If it isn't the norm for your church, it's probably the time to start thinking about it," said Matt Balla from Peacemakers Gun Range in Howell.

It is a sad commentary on the state of the society, but it is what it is.

This brings to mind Hobbes' Leviathan. The idea that security is required for civilization to endure is not new. Hobbes published Leviathan in 1651. In that book he describes the State of War that ensues when law and order break down.

Western Civilization is built on a foundation of law and order. Without law and order, you can't have nice things. You can't have anything really. Or as Hobbes stated it, when there is no force-of-law to keep people in check, things break down. We are left with only the security we can provide for ourselves.

I'm Shocked That After Years of Open Borders ...

Bad people are in the country. ICE arrests Iranian sniper with an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card in North Alabama

No doubt people will tell me, basically, that "there's nothing to see here," and I should just ignore the Iranian sniper. Or something.

As federal officials began looking for potential threats to the United States after its actions in bombing Iran this week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Tuesday that it had arrested a Locust Fork man with an Islamic Republic of Iran Army identification card in a nationwide roundup.

Vetting Process? Defending the country from foreign agents? The Biden administration couldn't be bothered with all that, they had important stuff to do!

I wish I could give someone a hat tip for this story, but I neglected to make note of where I read about it.

News Flash: Liberals Oppose Anything Related to Immigration Enforcement

Is anyone shocked? "Alligator Alcatraz" immigrant detention center sparks outcry as DeSantis claims zero environmental impact - CBS Miami

Florida has begun building a new migrant detention center deep in the Everglades, springing into action after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) approved the development. But activists and locals have already raised major concerns, citing environmental and human rights issues.

It is to be located at the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport. It is just north of US Highway 41, about halfway from Miami to Naples on Highway 41. It is literally in the middle of The Everglades. Anyone attempting to escape could go east or west on US 41, or off into a wilderness area infested with alligators and the invasive anaconda snake. (I haven't lived in that part of the country in more than a decade, but I assume they have not eliminated the snake problem.) That's if you aren't drained dry by the mosquitos, or just overcome by the heat and humidity.

Dwight Bullard, a former State Senator and senior policy advisor at the nonprofit Florida Rising, says the organization is wholly against the building of the detention center, also citing humanitarian and environmental concerns. He says the state, even under Republican leadership, has been looking to “restore the Everglades,” particularly because of its importance in the area’s water system.

There are other 'voices' expressing concern.

Eve Samples, executive director of Friends of the Everglades, said 7600 people had written to the governor and attorney general. Current estimates of Florida's population are about 23 million, so 0.033 percent of the population is "on record" not liking this solution. If you use the 2020 census number of 21 million population, it 0.036 percent of the population possessed to this plan.

The Prepared Citizen Movement

This sounds a bit like standard prepping with a side order of 3-gun shooting matches. Prepared citizen movement growing among Americans | NewsNation

Does it seem like there is more chaos in the world, or is it just that more people are paying attention?

The “prepared citizen” movement is a growing trend in which people take proactive steps to become self-reliant and ready for various emergencies or crises. It includes hardcore military training, self-defense and tools such as first aid and emergency communication.

Or maybe "Prepared Citizen" is the new PC term for prepper.

“They were trying to learn how to shoot literally days before the Russians invaded,” said [Eric] Roscher, a U.S. Air Force veteran and owner of Barrel and Hatchet Trade Group. “And so they were almost, like, helpless. And I saw it was like in America, we shouldn’t have that problem. One, we have the Second Amendment, but we as citizens should have the ability to defend our country and ourselves, and it’s in our Constitution.”

It's an interesting article, given that the author of the piece seems to have been mostly clueless about prepping. There was one interesting statement.

“Riots, elections, foreign wars, people realizing that their safety is their own personal responsibility,” [Ben Brown, owner of Wise Men Company] said. “No one’s coming to save them.”

The first place I saw that phrase was in the Graham Killhouse Rules:

Vance Boelter, Amy Klobuchar, and Tim Walz

This story was originally on the Star Tribune website, but I could not get that page to display. The link is below. Letter to FBI from shooting suspect made wild claims about Klobuchar and Walz, sources say

I will start with the hat tip, or part of it. Matt Margolis at PJ Media notes "Now We Know Why the Minnesota Assassin Story Disappeared Overnight."

But back to the article above.

In a rambling, conspiratorial letter addressed to the FBI, alleged assassin Vance Boelter claimed Gov. Tim Walz instructed him to kill U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar so that Walz could run for the U.S. Senate, according to two people familiar with the contents of the letter.

I predict that the FBI, or at least the office in Minnesota, will do everything to claim that they cannot release this letter because of an ongoing investigation. I no longer have faith in Kash Patel to overrule them.

Federal prosecutors allege the letter was left behind in a Buick that Boelter deserted near his home in Green Isle, Minn. It also allegedly contained Boelter’s confession that he carried out the shootings that killed state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and injured Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.

There is more, and it is interesting, but it is all contributed to those "sources familiar with the letter."

Now back to Now We Know Why the Minnesota Assassin Story Disappeared Overnight.

Have you wondered why the story of the Minnesota assassin Vance Boelter has suddenly vanished from the news? Now we have a pretty good idea why.

The media was quick to pile on Boelter as MAGA, Religious, Conservative, etc.

In short, Boelter is just a wacko. His letter is a testament to his fractured mind, not a manifesto of political grievance. The media’s rush to blame conservatives and the governor’s passive complicity in allowing false narratives to spread are failures that demand scrutiny. The truth matters, and in this case, it exposes a grotesque distortion of reality by those eager to score political points amid a horrific crime.

Enter The Behelit

Beast in Black is a European Heavy Metal band known for the clear, and high, singing voice of Yannis Papadopoulos. Diablo is an Action Roll Playing Game/franchise that is very popular, and Berserk is a Manga from the late 1980s that spawned both anime and video games. Roll them all together and you get today's song/video.

This is what Metal Heads Forever had to say on April 29th. BEAST IN BLACK and Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo® Join Forces to release new track ‘Enter The Behelit

The limited-edition maxi single will feature a brand-new song ‘Enter The Behelit’ from BEAST IN BLACK, inspired by Berserk and produced exclusively for the game, as well as remastered versions of fan favourite tracks ‘Die By The Blade’ from the album From Hell With Love, and ‘The Fifth Angel’ from the band’s debut album, Berserker. With many songs taking inspiration from Berserk story and characters, the Finnish heavy metal band’s music often reflects the undercurrents of struggle, fighting against overwhelming odds, and battling inner demons – themes that are prevalent in the games of the Diablo franchise.

This song is "Enter The Behelit" by Beast in Black. It was released to YouTube at the end of April, and amassed 1 million views by the middle of May.

Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0

Miguel Gonzalez goes into more detail on a self-defense shooting from earlier in the month. The importance of using the proper shotgun shells (Part 2 - Video)

My previous stance of using at least buckshot stands and now I want to add one that I should have mentioned before.

Anything worth shooting once is worth shooting twice. Keep shooting till the threat ceases.

And he has some thoughts about other weapons.

And yes, if you have a semi rifle, one of them Scary Black Rifles, the racking part takes care of itself and that is my weapon of choice for home defense. But we need to be proficient when we do not have access to our weapon of choice and the only thing available is a pump shotgun or even a coach gun.

Click thru. There is TV news story that includes security camera video of the break in and self-defense shooting, as well as a statement from local police, and a statement from the shop owner.

And I love that the store owner uses the phrase, "Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0."

EVs Are NOT More Reliable than Internal Combustion

From The London Telegraph (by way of the Wayback Machine): EVs ‘most likely type of car to break down’ One in six said their electric car broke down a higher breakdown rate than for petrol, diesel or hybrid cars, according to a survey

The findings come after Jakob Pfaudler, the AA’s chief executive, warned of a “common misconception that electric vehicles break down less frequently than petrol and diesel vehicles”.

This is the MGUY Australia video Oops! EVs are LESS reliable than regular cars: survey

Not only are they more likely to fail on you, you're less likely to get it fixed quickly.

Lies, Damn Lies, and (Gun Control) Statistics

I'm shocked that the gun-hating part of the Left would lie. Or maybe I'm not so shocked. Things Get Messy Fast When You Dig Into the Number Behind the Gun Control Industry’s Favorite Talking Points

For decades, gun control advocates and their allies in “public health” have pushed a misleading factoid about children and firearms.

This is how it works: Step one, acquire statistics on firearm-related deaths among children ages 0 to 14. Step two, combine that relatively low number with the far greater number of firearm-related deaths involving juveniles and young adults ages 15 to 17, 15 to 19, or even ages 15 to 24. Step three, present the resulting data as the shocking number of “children” (ages 0 to 17, 0 to 19 or 0 to 24) who are subjected to “gun violence” each day/week/month/year. Step four, use the disingenuous statistic to advocate for pre-determined gun control policies by claiming “gun violence is the leading cause of death of children.”

Hat tip to Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit: IF THEIR ARGUMENTS WERE GOOD, WOULD THEY HAVE TO LIE SO MUCH?

Feminist Misses Men, Wants Them Back

That's what she thinks, anyway. Jeff Childers at Flopping Aces wrote a takedown of the feminist and her article. The original is linked below if you think he is overstating the issue. (He isn't.) Feminism Told Women They Didn’t Need Men – Now They’re Dining Alone, Writing Op-Eds, and Wondering Where Everyone Went

Rachel Drucker, the author of the oringinal lament, doesn't say on what terms she wants men back, but Flopping Aces covers that.

The piece’s writer, Rachel Drucker, 53, described herself as a divorced former custodian of records for Playboy Magazine. Thanks to her smut-peddling experience, she’s become an expert on men. Or at least, that’s what she thinks. “I came to understand,” Rachel lectured readers, “in exact terms, what cues tempt the average 18-to-36-year-old cis heterosexual man.”

But alas! At 53, Rachel’s bag of transactional smut-peddling tricks is empty. Or at least, she’s shot past the 18-36 runway. Rachel now lives in a rom-com. She described her New York life as though she were a main character in Sex and the City. After one gentleman politely excused himself at the last minute from a date, she got dolled up anyway and took herself out for dinner. Rachel doesn’t need a man!

Maybe it is just the company I keep, but I don't hear the statement, "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle," as much as I did during the 1980s.

Rachel Drucker is the strong woman. Career. Married and Divorced. She doesn't say what went wrong. For once, at least for the time being, there is a New York Times article that is NOT behind a firewall. You can read it for yourself.

Women were once signifiers of value, even to other men. It wasn’t always healthy, but it meant that men had to show up and put in some effort.

That dynamic has quietly collapsed. We have moved into an era where many men no longer seek women to impress other men or to connect across difference. They perform elsewhere. Alone. They’ve filtered us out.

Feminists told men to get lost. Well, outside of hookup culture anyway. Men would need to do half the dishes, half the laundry or be derided for not "doing their fair share." How many of the women mow the lawn, or better yet change the oil in the lawn mower. You can't stop by Jiffy Lube, or wherever, on your way home from work, and overpay to have someone change the oil, as you can do with a car. (And yes, I overpay to have someone else change the oil in my car, and I have for decades, but I do change the oil in my lawn mowers - plural.)

As Jeff Childers points out in the 1st link above, there is no reflection on the part of Ms. Drucker to ask, "Why did the men leave?" It couldn't be because they were told they were toxic, could it?

Mr. Childers goes on to discuss MAGA, and the whole tradwife thing on TikTok or Instagram or wherever it is to be found. Not sure I agree with everything he says, but the Democrats seem completely clueless when it comes to the current crop of young men.

As Shoe0nHead pointed out, after the election last year, Democrats, after calling young men the "Hilter Youth," basically asked the question:

How do we get young men to get on board with "Young men eat shit and die!" movement?

Her suggestion that you not call them the Hitler Youth made half of YouTube explode. And listen long enough to hear the section about "The Liberal Joe Rogan." It is about 7 and half minutes to get from where I have the video cued, to the part where Shoe0nHead predicts the blue wave of podcasts, such as Governor Hairgel, and Michelle Obama have tried to start.

By the way, with all these like journalists and people talking about how we need a liberal Andrew Tate, a liberal Joe Rogan, yeah, be prepared to see some of the most forced, overproduced, AstroTurfed, streamers and YouTubers to pop up overnight, and subtly, or not so subtly, start shilling for the Democratic party. You're going to start seeing funded DNC plants all over YouTube, Twitch, TikTok because they really do think the answer to all of this is "more podcasts."

That whole video is worth it by the way, if you can find the 35 minutes, or so, to watch it. (Image at the top was lifted from Flopping Aces.)

When I got to the bottom of the Flopping Aces story, it redirected me to the Coffee and COVID substack for the entire takedown.

Vaccines, Injuries, and Money

Conservative Woman, out of the UK, brings us some info on COVID "vaccines." Another spike in the vaccine coffin? - The Conservative Woman

AS I HAVE previously mentioned in many such articles, the covid vaccines were never necessary, nor are they effective. Indeed, they have inflicted more misery, damage and death than perhaps any other medical intervention ever.

On top of the cardiac, blood clotting and many autoimmune diseases such as Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) that the vaccine has triggered, it is now accepted that the rise in cancer cases, especially the newly identified ‘turbo’ cancers are indeed associated in particular with the booster shots.

Of course they had to redefine the term vaccine to get these to apply.

And of course the "medical establishment is working overtime to get any study of the "vaccines" killed in the cradle, or stangled before it can see the light of day.

Most published scientific papers pointing out these issues are plagued by efforts to have the papers retracted. It is therefore worth highlighting a current Japanese study, SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in cerebral Arteries: Implications for hemorrhagic stroke Post-mRNA vaccination, recently published in the Journal of Clinical Neuroscience. It clearly shows the presence of the COV-SARS-2 spike protein in cerebral arteries. The study involved 19 patients who had a hemorrhagic stroke post mRNA vaccination. Full details are given, with 43.8 per cent of these patients clearly showing the spike protein in the intima (innermost coating) of the cerebral arteries. Findings show it was still present in patients up to 17 months post vaccination.

These things are still being pushed on everyone.

Follow the money if you want to know why. Also from Conservative Woman: Big Pharma fat cats get fatter still

THE chief executive of BioNTech received a staggering nine-figure pay package last year, according to the industry website Fierce Pharma. The bulk of Dr Uğur Şahin’s $287million (£212million) recompense came from exercising share options, and took him to the top of the publication’s list of highest-paid pharma CEOs.

Eli Lilly’s CEO, David Ricks. That company makes weight-loss drugs to compete with Ozempic.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla ranked third, with a total compensation of $24.6million — his second-highest annual salary after his $33million payout in 2022, when Pfizer was reaping massive profits from its covid vaccine and its antiviral Paxlovid.

There is more. COVID figures in some of it. Weight-loss figures in some of it.

Blue States Are Not Interested in the Results of Education

If they were interested in results, those results might be better than awful. From City Journal: Blue States Used to Lead in Education. Not Anymore: Republican-led states are banning ineffective teaching methods, rapidly improving student outcomes.

Not long ago, blue states typically outperformed red ones when it came to education. That is changing. Blue states like Oregon and Washington experienced significant drops in reading and math scores for both fourth- and eighth-graders between 2015 and 2024, worse than the national declines during the same period. Mississippi, meantime, gained five points in fourth-grade reading and math and held steady in eighth-grade performance. Louisiana also maintained its scores, defying the negative national trends.

The most glaring example is phonics. Whole Language became the fad in American education, despite the fact that phonics was used forever. Why? Because reasons. And teachers didn't want to grade worksheets. (That is a common problem.)

In recent decades, however, red states have returned to phonics. In 2013, Mississippi, under unified Republican leadership in both the legislature and governor’s mansion, was an early adopter of requiring that teachers be trained in evidence-based reading pedagogies. At the time, Mississippi rated second to last in reading scores nationally. But since then, the Magnolia State has steadily climbed the rankings. In fact, adjusted for demographics, it now stands among the top states in reading.

Then there is "equity." Click thru for the whole thing.

Take Chicago as typical Blue City. From Illinois Policy, we get a glimpse of the insanity. Chicago mayor praises school with just 2% adept readers as example of his values

Mayor Brandon Johnson's Chicago just signed a new contract with the teachers' union.

In discussing the contract, Johnson pointed to Dyett High School as “a great example of a sustainable community school.” His reasoning? Its basketball team won the state championship last month.

But when it comes to Job No. 1, educating students? Dyett is failing. That’s not unusual because sustainable community schools produce among the worst outcomes for students in CPS.

Only 2% of students read at grade level at Dyett High School

And no students at that school were able to do math at grade level. But hey, they won the basketball tournament.

Government Propaganda in TV Shows

Is anyone shocked about this? PROOF: Government put vaccine propaganda in TV shows?!

Turns out that government Ministers met with mainstream media bosses during covid to tell them to put pro-vaccine storylines in popular TV shows such as Coronation Street.

They met in secret with ITV, BBC and Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky and more with the government talking about ”national unity programming”.

Turns out that BBC claiming not to be state media was a lie. But it wasn't just the BBC.

Here they [ITV, BBC and Channel 4] discussed how to put ”health messages” in soap operas and Channel 4 even agreed they could target young people with their YouTube channel. And they did put pro-vaccine propaganda in soap operas.

This is a story about the UK, but given everything the US government did to Social Media, are you really going to believe that they didn't work with Hollywood on TV shows, and movies?

Murder a Kid with a Car, Get NO Jail Time

This should make your blood boil. From The Other McCain: What the Heck Is Wrong With Florida?

She had been a known public menace for 15 years, basically, and by the time she finally killed someone — running a red light on a residential street at 85 mph — you might think the courts would consider this something more than a mere traffic violation. The appropriate legislative response to this egregious situation would be to fix whatever loophole exists in Florida law that fails to punish vehicular homicide as a felony, particularly in cases with aggravating circumstances such as a prior record of driving on a suspended license, etc.

Go read the whole thing.

Another Failure of the Victim-Selection Process

Even in a Blue State and a Blue City, self-defense might be legal. Intruder hospitalized after being shot by armed homeowner during attempted break-in

The homeowner tells KATU News that the person he shot had been bashing on the door for about 10 minutes, claiming he lived there. The homeowner said he warned the would-be intruder that he was armed.

He eventually managed to break the door, and gain entry. The homeowner shot him. The cops arrived about 30 seconds later, and provided first aid.

The guy who got shot was taken to a local hospital. The homeowner was not arrested.

While banging on the door, the guy who got shot was screaming that he lived there. He didn't. This is either a case of Crazy People Are Dangerous, or I suspect that drugs and/or alcohol may have been involved.

Self-defense is a human right. Good Guys 1, Bad Guys 0.

The Worst Pixar Film Ever Made

Alan Ng's review on Film Threat of the new Pixar film Elio

Last year, Inside Out 2 became the highest-grossing animated film in history. While that didn’t necessarily make it the best, it signaled that Pixar was back to form. After that massive success, Disney/Pixar follows it up with a space tale for boys…can lightning strike twice with Elio? Well, this is Disney after all.

Is there a single property/studio that Disney has purchased in the past 15 years or so, that they have not destroyed over time?

It pains me to say this, but Elio earns the dubious distinction of being the worst Pixar movie ever made. Story-wise, Elio is for children…mostly young boys…unlike every Pixar movie, there is nothing for adults. Mom—Dad! Be prepared to be bored for ninety minutes while your child takes in the cute aliens and slapstick humor.

There are a couple of truly great Pixar films, and not because the animation technology is outstanding, because the early movies were made before the technology was outstanding. The movies were good because they knew how to tell stories. I guess those times are gone.

This is the Film Threat video ELIO IS THE WORST PIXAR MOVIE EVER MADE | Film Threat Rant

This is mostly a critique of the artistic composition of individual scenes. Walt Disney took inspiration from classic, master works. Current generations of animation from Disney takes inspiration from no one. It is a non-spoiler review.

The video is 20 minutes long.

Deeply Disturbed

Infected Mushroom is fairly described as pioneers of Psytrance Music. That would be Psychedelic Trance. Some of their music reminds of the club music from my youth, while being something slightly different. A lot of it is more relaxing.

The album today's song comes from was a bit of an attempt to open up to a broader audience. The first disk was all Psytrance, while the second opened up the musical style a bit. Today's song is Psytrance.

Infected Mushroom is currently based in LA.
