The police are not giving out very many details but they are saying it was related to a "domestic dispute."
A San Antonio couple got into an argument at a motel. The man attacked the woman and she shot him. She retreated to a local house of a family member and called police. She also managed to shoot herself in the arm. If I was to make a guess, I would say there was a struggle over the gun, but it would only be a guess.
As of Thursday morning, no charges had been filed.
If I was going to make guesses, I would say that is sounds like she had gone to the motel to get away from him, and he followed. But that is a lot of guessing.
Self-defense is a human right, and this took place in Texas, not in New York. (Hat tip to Keep and Bear Arms.)
