The causes come and go, according to the vogue of progressive concerns. From time to time, the NPCs return to a few favorite causes — climate change, gun control, abortion rights, etc. — but they’re constantly updating their agenda to fit the latest fashions. If you’re old enough to remember the 1970s or ’80s, you may recall the protests against nuclear power plants, or the “Live Aid” enthusiasm about African famine relief. The fact that this herd of bleating sheep wander from one cause to another reflects the nature of their interest in politics.
