From William Teach we get Saturday Metal: Epica – Sirens Of Blood And Water
For those not familiar with Epica, they are primarily a Symphonic Metal band. But, they weave in lots of different types of metal. Take this song: it has such a positive view, eh? The gorgeous ladies wearing dresses, their lovely voices, smiling. Performed in B minor, giving it a brighter feel. The chorus, the orchestra. But, wait, it’s actually based on the old, old little mermaid fairy tale, and, remember, the originals tended to be pretty dark. In this case, the sirens/mermaids are telling their sweet sister to take the dagger and kill the prince, and maybe some others, per the chorus
Charlotte Wessels is Dutch singer, who used to be the lead singer for Delain, but recently has been pursuing a solo career. Myrkur is a solo folk rock and black metal project by Danish singer Amalie Bruun
