A Mostly Crime-Free Weekend in Chicago

Or that is what the elected officials in Chicago and Illinois want you to believe, but maybe you see things a different way.

First, HeyJackass! brings us the stats on Crime is bad, but not as insane as a few years ago, so we can celebrate that it is "down." Maybe. If you don't look to closely at the numbers. Mostly Raggedy Weekend

We’ve been told the “shootings will continue”, unless something ist-o-phobic does/doesn’t happen or something something, blah blah blah. In any event, the reason why shootings will continue is because it’s acceptable if not encouraged.

Final Demonized Tally: 7 killed, 14 wounded
2024 weekend tally: 4 killed, 17 wounded

As always, HeyJackass! counts all homicides, by whatever means, and those people shot and wounded.

Of course shootings are not the only crime. Here we have an injury not counted by HeyJackass! From CWB Chicago: Man stabbed 7 times as workers set up for ‘Sundays on State’ in the Loop

A man was stabbed seven times yesterday [Sunday] morning in the Loop as crews set up for the first “Sundays on State” event of the year, a showcase the Chicago Loop Alliance touts as an internationally acclaimed, award-winning street festival.

The guy who got stabbed is in hospital and is expected to survive. The bad guy was detained by people at the site.

And then there is property crime. Also from CWB Chicago: 6 charged with smash-and-grab heist at Rolex store on the Magnificent Mile.

Maybe that should be the "Formerly Magnificent Mile."

Prosecutors have filed felony charges against six men accused of stealing $170,500 worth of Rolex watches during a smash-and-grab burglary at the company’s Mag Mile boutique on Friday afternoon. The caper ended with a cross-town police chase that ended in a crash and foot pursuits.

There is more of course, these are only "interesting enough" that were captured by the news.
