The Other McCain brings us The End of Polls and Predictions
Election Day 2026 has finally arrived, bringing with it the merciful end of polls and predictions being presented as “news.”
Personally I hope all of the emails, and SMS messages about the election also stop.
At some point, you need to get in touch with your inner Stoic, to seek calm amid the gibbering madness, to stop being a wired-in political junkie before it drives you bonkers.
Good advice. Hard to follow.

I'm with The Other McCain - I really want the endless headline-seeking to go away. We see about 10^9 "the poll sez" stories with maybe 1 in 1000 mentioning the expected uncertainty. The big news story was the completely false poll that was released, reported nationwide and then the "polling" company said it was purely made up.
ReplyDeleteA personal annoyance story is that in the weeks before any election, I get texts to my phone calling me Carlos (which isn't my name) and telling me to vote their way on issues in Dade county. I lived in Dade county when I was a kid living with my parents, last time was 1973.
