A 33-year-old man inside the residence told officers that the unidentified person entered his home and charged in his direction, police said.
The man fired his gun and shot the home invader in the chest, police said.
Given the deep blue nature of the city, it will be a while before the State's Attorney makes determinations on charges, but the current State's Attorney for Cook County is apparently much better than the last, though that is not a high bar to get over.
