A recent West Virginia shooting has a complicated backstory. Deputies: Man shot by Kanawha County homeowner identified as suspect in stolen vehicle pursuit

A West Virginia homeowner was working on a home that was not his primary residence, when he was accosted by an intruder armed with a knife and a baseball bat. He ended up shooting the intruder.
Two days before the shooting occurred, there was this.
The KCSO says investigators have discovered that Duff was also the suspect in a high-speed pursuit on Aug. 6 involving a stolen vehicle from Pennsylvania.
Deputies say the pursuit went through Cross Lanes into Putnam County and back to Kanawha County before the vehicle crashed on Poca River Road, which is near Lick Branch Road. The suspect ran into the woods, and deputies and K-9 units were not able to locate him.
Duff did not survive the encounter with the homeowner.
